A 12-lead, electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) assesses the electrical activity of an individual’s heart and is key to the diagnosis, or rule-out, of various cardiac abnormalities. The proper positioning of 10 electrodes on an individual’s chest and the exact configuration of a system of 10 corresponding leads are critical to obtaining accurate ECG results. Traditionally, skilled technicians affix a complex network of these 20 individual components on the patient’s chest, a process which can be time-consuming and fraught with the potential for error due electrode misplacement or lead reversal.
The EKG Glove™ has an all-in-one design with pre-positioned electrodes and printed circuit technology integrated into a single-use, glove-like sheath. A user simply removes the backing from the underside of The EKG Glove™, inserts his or her right hand into the sheath, and applies The EKG Glove™ to the patient’s chest for a standardized fit. Self-application is also easy to facilitate with minimal instruction. The “peel-and-stick” EKG Glove™ helps to minimize testing errors and drastically reduce the time it takes to prepare an individual for a 12-lead ECG. In addition, The EKG Glove™ is disposable which can help reduce the risk of cross contamination and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs).
A single cable connects The EKG Glove™ to almost any electrocardiograph machine, eliminating the use of “spaghetti wires” that may inadvertently be reversed and result in an inaccurate ECG. The EKG Glove™ System is compatible with traditional, stationary ECG devices as well as many portable, Bluetooth-enabled ECG solutions. In this latter scenario, the ease-of-use of The EKG Glove™ System paired with a lightweight, transportable ECG device allows a cardiac assessment to be performed in as little as 60 seconds in almost any care setting, especially where time-efficient patient triage is critical.
